Aaliyah Dana Haughton and Aarti Mann

Aaliyah Haughton was famous after 1994 when she debuted her first album Age Ain't nothing but a number. Her album, which was made available at just 15 years old was certified Gold. The group was strongly inspired by R. Kelly, and helped put her in the spotlight. In 1996 Jermaine and Timbaland released Aaliyah's second album One In A Million. The album contained the single If You Girls Only Knew the top-selling single. Aaliyah received international recognition for her R&B vocals with this album. The year 2000 saw her co-starred with the martial arts icon Jet Li for the film Romeo Must Die. Joel Silver, film producer and director of the film Romeo Must Die, spotted her during an awards event. In 2002 she had the opportunity to be part of the film vampire Queen of the Damned which was inspired by Anne Rice's Anne Rice novel. The Matrix Sequels saw her playing Zee following her appearance on The Matrix Reloaded (2003) and The Matrix Revolutions that same year. The year 1999, 2001, 2002, and 2003 she was nominated to win four Grammy awards. While her initial professional career was mostly dominated by small television and film performances, she rose to greater prominence in the mid-2000s. Other notable work includes Grey's Anatomy, Suits and Leverage. She's appeared in many commercials, including Volvo's global car manufacturer. She is a resident of Los Angeles where she continues to work as an actress.
